About our Druzy:

All of the druzy that we use is 100% natural, and therefore will vary in shape, size and color from piece to piece.  Every piece of our druzy jewelry is truly unique…like you!

What is a Druzy and How's it Created?

A druzy is a set of tiny crystals composed of minerals that formed as nodules within ancient volcanic rocks or lava. There are many types of druzy, because there are many types of minerals. Each type of druzy has particular characteristics, such as crystal size, luster and color. Quartz is one of the most common druzy types because of the prevalence of silica throughout the world. No matter what mineral forms the druzy, the overall appearance usually resembles that of sugar. The tiny crystals are considered so beautiful because, like large gemstones, they glitter and catch rays of light.

The geological process that forms a druzy occurs when water brings minerals onto a rock's surface. When the water evaporates, cooling occurs and the minerals are left behind to form crystals on top of the rock. The druzy grow slowly over millions of years and are found as the very last layer of growth on agate or another colorful base. Depending on the minerals, druzy can be almost any color of the rainbow, including white, pink, blue, purple, green or black.

Care of Our Jewelry:

Care must be taken with regard to druzy jewelry.  Avoid knocking or banging it repeatedly as it WILL break.  Also avoid immersing the gem material into harsh chemicals, or ultrasonic cleaners. To clean it, simply wipe it clean with a very soft dry cloth.

Always remove your jewelry before bathing or using any product that contains bleach.  Bleach can cause gold and other metal alloys to breakdown leaving the metal irreparably damaged. This includes swimming pools/hot tubs as chlorine products are added to prevent bacteria growth.  Besides chlorine bleach, denatured alcohol, turpentine, acetone, and ammonia can cause harm to your druzy.  These chemicals can dull or even pit the surface of the druzy and other gemstones.  It is also not recommended to not wear your druzy jewelry while exercising, as sweat can dull your druzy jewelry as well.
