While I love living on one of the busiest streets in Atlanta, sometimes I've got to get away from the everyday hustle and escape to a place where my mind can be clear again. Taking a road trip to the North Georgia mountains is my perfect way to recenter and get the creative juices flowing again. This past weekend, we headed to Rabun County and hit two beautiful state parks for a day of hiking and inspiration.
Being the highest elevation state park in Georgia, we were surprised that their most popular trail wasn't busy at all. At times we felt like we were in our own magical forest as we hiked the Tennessee Rock Trail. The moment I got out of the car at the park, I was immediately in love with the smells, sounds and lush greenery of the forest...it was the exact opposite of where we had just come from 100 miles away, and just what I needed to be inspired. The hike was a moderate 2.5 mile loop, with breathtaking views at the summit.
This park is one of the most popular destinations in North Georgia, and understandably so. We were eager to get a workout in and chose the Hurricane Falls Trail, which is the most popular trail at the park, despite all of the stairs. The hike in and out of the 2 mile gorge is like nature's stairmaster that never ends. Captivated by all the dizzying views from the overlooks, waterfalls and a suspension bridge...the 1122 steps were worth it to enjoy the views. What a workout!
